Rethymno Book now

Although hailing from antiquity, Rethymno — the capital of Rethymno prefecture —flourished during the Venetian occupation of Crete in the Middle Ages. What is today called the “old town”, in the center of Rethymno, is entirely Venetian with small alleys, arched doorways and picturesque houses. Standing impressively over the city is Fortezza, the Venetian fortress which is open to public and also holds events during the tows renaissance

By walking the old town, you can enjoy the combination of traditional architecture, Byzantine temples and modern shops. It is buzzing with small tavernas, or cafes (around Piazza Rimondi) and clubs at nighttime.
